This farming practice is 100% organic, utilizing only 1% of water required for field-based farming and leaves virtually no carbon footprint. With the ability to isolate up to 99.5% of every nutritional element from the crops we cultivate.
What is Aquaponics?
Aquaponics is the combination of aquaculture (the growing of fish and other aquatic animals) and hydroponics (the growing of plants without soil) in one recirculating environment.
In aquaponics, the fish produces ammonia that the nitrifying bacteria converts into nutrients for the plants. Plants then absorb these nutrients to thrive, in return cleaning and filtering the water for the fish to flourish.
Water lentils grow primarily by vegetative reproduction (two daughter plants grow off of an adult plant, which allows for rapid reproduction in calm waters. Water lentils leaves multiply via vegetative reproduction which means they double in mass every 24 hours in our CEVAS system.
An aquaponics farming practice that reduces water consumption by 95% has a next to zero carbon footprint and produces a pure, nutrient-dense organic crops.
WHAT THE CURRENT GLOBAL ISSUE IS
The livestock industry produces about one third of global methane emissions. Beef farming alone produces 31 times more CO2 emissions per calorie than tofu production and generates only 5% of the calories that go into producing it.
